Ants, Argentine These little pests are incredibly annoying as they find entry points you wouldn’t think existed and finding that entry point is the key to control! Any ants you see will die immediately when sprayed with Greenbug for Indoors or Greenbug for Outdoors. Follow the trail of ants back to where it starts spraying the ants in the trail and apply a liberal spraying of Greenbug at the origin of the trail. It is very helpful to locate the entry point from the outside as well so look on an exterior wall around the point of entry indoors. Spray where the outside trail seems to enter inside and spray thoroughly for several yards to the left and right, up and down. What you are trying to do is create a barrier the ants will not cross. Keep in mind, these ants want something and will now start to look for a new entry point so as soon as you see any evidence of these ants, spray as directed above. (Back to Solutions) Ants, Carpenter A direct spray with Greenbug for Indoors or Greenbug for Outdoors will kill the ants. If there is a particular area the Carpenter Ants have chosen, spray the entire area plus several feet on all sides. If you see a defined trail, spray along the entire trail. Using Greenbug will kill the Carpenter Ants it contacts and will repel any additional ants from entering the area. (Back to Solutions) Ants, Fire Take a long stick and jab it down into the middle of the mound. Stir it around a few times to get the ants boiling out and to get the stick as far down into the ground as possible. Leave the stick in the mound. (Make sure no ants crawl up the stick to get you and also watch your feet for the ants from underground.) Spray Greenbug for Outdoors on any ants emerging from the mound so that you can get close to the stick. Using the stick as an opportunity to get deep within the mound, pour Greenbug for People down the stick (no more than a slow dribble) so that it goes deep within the nest. The amount used is determined by the size of the mound. The largest mound I have killed was about 2 feet wide, 1 foot high and I used about ½ cup of Greenbug for Outdoors. One application is usually enough. However, some fire ant mounds go to the left or right underground which is not obvious from the surface. The nest should be totally dead by the next day but twirling the stick around would be the way to find out. If ants boil up again, poke around in the soil to determine the location underground and repeat the process as above. (Back to Solutions) Ants, indoors A direct spray with Greenbug for Indoors will kill the ants. If there is a particular area the Ants congregate, spray that entire area well. If you see a defined trail, spray along the entire trail. If there is a side of the house from which the ants always emerge, you can spray Greenbug for Indoors all along the indoor and outdoor walls (foundation) to create a barrier they will not cross. If they are coming from underneath, spray the entry point well and then everyday for a few days afterwards to ensure they do not enter from there again. Using Greenbug will kill the Ants it contacts and will repel any additional ants from entering the area. If the Ants are persistent and keep returning, develop a routine of spraying the area every other day for a week or so to repel any ants. (Back to Solutions) Ants, on plants Use Greenbug for Outdoors directly on the Ants on the tops and undersides of leaves plus along the stems. It is best to spray either early morning or late evening when there is not direct sun on the plant. Spraying all around the ground at the base of the plant helps ensure the ants will not return. (Back to Solutions) Ants, Sugar These little pests find the most amazing entry points and finding that entry point is the key. Follow the trail of ants back to where it starts. Spray the ants you see with Greenbug for Indoors or Greenbug for Outdoors and apply a liberal spraying of Greenbug at the origin of the trail as well as a heavy spray at the end of the trail. It is very helpful to locate the entry point from the outside as well. Spray where the outside trail seems to enter inside and spray thoroughly for several yards to the left and right. What you are trying to do is create a barrier the ants will not cross. Keep in mind, these ants want something and will now start to look for a new entry point. As soon as you see any evidence, spray as directed above. (Back to Solutions) Aphids Use Greenbug for Outdoors directly on Aphids on the tops and undersides of leaves plus along the stems. It is best to spray either early morning or late evening when there is not direct sun on the plant. (Back to Solutions) Bed Bug Prevention You can protect yourself from bed bugs! Prior to entering a vulnerable location, Greenbug for People can be used on clothes and belongings as well as directly on people to fully repel bed bugs. There is no staining or residue – just a pleasant natural aroma of cedar to create a bed bug barrier. Greenbug for People provides peace of mind and protection from the emotional and financial nightmare of bed bugs. (Back to Solutions) Bed Bugs when you travel Protect yourselves from Bed Bugs! To prevent bed bugs, follow these three easy steps: 1. Spray yourself, luggage and your belongings with Greenbug fro People before entering a cab, riding a bus, boarding a plane, etc. 2. When you arrive, thoroughly inspect ALL layers of bed linens and lightly spray with Greenbug fro People – down to the mattress - then under the headboard and artwork above the bed. 3. Spray yourself, luggage and belongings with Greenbug for People before traveling home. You have now killed and repelled all bed bugs you come into contact with. This protects you from bringing bed bugs home!!! (Back to Solutions) Bed Bugs in clothing Clothing can be a great way to unknowingly transport bed bugs. You may sit in a nice upholstered chair in a public venue (theater, restaurant, hotel lobby, office building, etc.) and be totally unaware that you are bringing unwanted guests home. Before entering your home, lightly spray yourself and clothing down with Greenbug for People to kill all bed bugs and their eggs. If you are particularly worried - say someone in your office knows they have bed bugs at home - you may place your clothes in an unused garbage bag that has been sprayed inside with Greenbug for People. Seal the bag tightly for a few days to allow the aroma to penetrate and therefore kill the bed bugs and their eggs. (Back to Solutions) Bed Bug infestation Materials needed: - Greenbug for People - Greenbug for Indoors, Concentrate or Ready to Use - Lightweight, non-thermal fogger - Respirator - Protective goggles Inspect all possible hiding areas - under furniture, behind artwork, electrical outlets, etc. and position everything for maximum exposure for treatment. If needed, treat the interior of box springs by removing protective under cloth. Wash all linens and clothing in the hottest water possible adding a ½ teaspoon of Greenbug for Indoors Concentrate or a ¼ cup of Greenbug for Indoors Ready to Use to the load. Prior to treatment, turn off smoke alarms and alert security system monitorings as the mist can trigger smoke alarms. Remove all pets, animals and do not allow people to be in the treated area until it is cleared out after treatment. Utilize 1 quart Greenbug for People for up to 1200 sq ft. Beginning at the far side of a room, aim the fogger directly at actual and potential hiding spots making sure the mist penetrates thoroughly. Pry fabric apart, point into electrical outlets, blast up under heavy furniture, fog all nooks and crannies as you move your way out of the room. For any Greenbug product left in the fogger, centrally place it on the floor to continue until empty and there is a dense fog in the room. Adult bed bugs will be dead within one minute of exposure and the remaining fog will penetrate into hiding spaces to kill eggs and larva of the next generations. Allow the fog to penetrate 4 hours to overnight. There is no staining or residue and the room can now be cleaned as usual. (Back to Solutions) Bed Bugs on luggage Prior to travel, it is a great idea to spray your luggage as well as yourself and other belongings well with Greenbug for People. This ensures a repellency barrier that bed bugs will not cross. If you stay somewhere, make sure you thoroughly spray the outside of the luggage (doesn’t hurt to spray the inside too!) with Greenbug for People before travel and again before you enter your home. Most luggage is very dark which is a perfect opportunity for bed bugs to travel. A great place to get bed bugs on a suitcase is in the luggage compartment of an airplane, bus, trunk of a taxi, etc. so be sure to spray your luggage with Greenbug for People prior to travel and you will repel any bed bugs you come into contact with. (Back to Solutions) Bed Bugs and new purchases Greenbug for People can be sprayed on new purchases to prevent bed bugs and/or eggs from invading into a home. Thoroughly inspect and lightly spray Greenbug for People on new clothing, furniture, decorative pillows, imported purchases (for instance imported tile has been known to carry bed bugs) and whatever else may harbor bed bugs – even picture frames! There is no staining or residue – just a pleasant natural aroma of cedar to create a bed bug barrier. Another option is to spray the inside of an unused garbage bag with Greenbug for People, place new items in the bag and then tightly seal the bag for a few days. This allows the aroma to penetrate and to kill all adults and dehydrate eggs of bed bugs. (Back to Solutions) Black Flies Using Greenbug for People creates a barrier these pests will not cross. Spray yourself, your clothing and your hair with Greenbug for People. I prefer to spray it into my hand and then rub on to make sure all areas are covered. The Black Flies will still hover, but they will not land. These pests are outside when it is most pleasant for humans to be outside too. They are drawn to your carbon dioxide when you breathe and tend to group together in clusters. These are one of the hardest species to repel so don’t be surprised if it takes frequent applications. My daughter played Spring Soccer and these pests were terrible! It was perfect weather, the soccer field is their breeding ground, and the girls were breathing hard which really drew the black flies. We chose to treat the girls each time they came off the field because they were sweating and losing some of Greenbug’s important aroma. Those of us in the stands didn’t require reapplication. (Back to Solutions) Chiggers Before going outside, spray yourself with Greenbug for People. As chiggers like to burrow where clothing is tight, spray thoroughly at the waistband, in socks, in the cuffs of a shirt and the chiggers will avoid you like the plague. If you are out for a long time or if you are doing strenuous activity, a reapplication may be a good idea. Perspiration minimizes the necessary aroma and since Greenbug for People is natural without a petroleum base, the residual isn’t as long as the poisons like DEET. But you can be sure you repel these awful pests and haven’t absorbed any neuro-toxins that may affect you later on. Chiggers can also affect animals so use Greenbug for Pets on them before going into a chigger prone location. (Back to Solutions) Drain Flies These are hard to get rid of but Greenbug for People will do the trick. If you have any drain flies, you have an infestation breeding in your water pipes so you want to take care of this quickly. Before you go to bed, go through your house and spray Greenbug for People down the drain of every single sink and then cover the drains. It is imperative that you cover all the drains because that prevents any escape route. You can turn a cup upside down to cover, you can place a towel over the drain with something on top to weight it down, do whatever you can to make sure the drain is covered. If you are gone during the day, you can also do this same process before you leave. The difficulty in eradicating these is because the eggs have a thick outer coating that can be hard to dehydrate fully so expect that it will take more than one application. We had these once and it wasn’t until I covered every drain in the house and treated two days in a row that they were gone. One customer had eggs laid along the lower edge of his shower tile and had tried multiple products to no avail. He started spraying this area with Greenbug for People after each shower – just kept the bottle in the shower stall to remind himself – and after a week he realized everything was gone and he didn’t need to continue. (Back to Solutions) Dust Mites Wow – these creatures are the bane of many people’s existence, me included, because of allergies. For ongoing control in specific areas, spray Greenbug for Indoors periodically on bedding, upholstered furniture, stuffed animals, stored clothing, on pillows, blankets, etc. – any of the cloth-like articles in the home that can collect dust mites. If you have a child with an allergy to dust mites, I would lightly spray articles in his or her bedroom weekly. In order to successfully treat the whole house for dust mites, you need a fogger and Greenbug for People. Be sure to disengage smoke alarms and alert your alarm company as a dense fog can trigger them. Get safety glasses and a respirator (not a mask) and make arrangements for your pets to be out of the home for a while. Take out the filter in the HVAC unit, crank up the heat or A/C, and turn the fogger full of Greenbug for People on full blast right into the intake vent. It will soon start easing out of the duct work throughout the house which is exactly what you want. The severity of the allergy will dictate how thoroughly to treat the home. Do not return for at least four hours so the fog can settle and kill all dust mites and their eggs. After four hours or longer has passed, return to the home, put the filter back in, open the windows and crank the HVAC to dissipate the fog. After about 10 minutes, all is clear inside and there are no more dust mites. (Back to Solutions) Fleas on dogs Spraying my dog for fleas the first time is when I knew Greenbug for Pets was awesome! Like many people before me, I had been told by my vet to use the spot drop treatments – which I now know are very toxic and will shorten a pet’s life by at least 25%. We used the super duper spot drop product on a Thursday and the following Tuesday, our German Shepherd / Collie mix had a huge engorged tick. Hmmm… So we sprayed it and Bam – it died instantly and we could actually see it shrivel. As the spot drop had done such a poor job on the tick, I wondered about the fleas. So I went and got a white sheet. We sprayed her thoroughly – kind of like a heavy hairspray application to where the aroma penetrated all of her fur. She didn’t mind it a bit. We stepped away and she shook and dead fleas went everywhere! I think we stopped counting at 20! So here is what you do – first application, like I did – spray Greenbug for Pets to where all the fur has the aroma throughout. Adults are now dead and eggs are being dehydrated and destroyed. Make sure the doggie bed is treated too. From then on, if your dog is exposed to fleas, I either treat beforehand as preventative or afterwards if I forget to do it ahead of time. As long as there is any aroma of Greenbug for Pets in the fur (you may need to really bury your nose in it to tell), all fleas are repelled. For a bad infestation on a dog, spray the fur heavily with Greenbug for Pets. Now you must deal with where the fleas are procreating because they lay eggs and hatch somewhere else. Vacuum your entire home thoroughly. Then you should launder on high heat everything you are able to launder that came into contact with the dog – his or her bed, any bedspreads or pillows, etc., adding ¼ cup of Greenbug for Indoors Ready to Use to the washing machine. This kills fleas and after the load, these laundered items will repel fleas. You can also bathe the dog, adding a ½ cup of Greenbug for Indoors to the bath water. The rest of the home will need to be sprayed with Greenbug for Indoors on Day 1, Day 2, Day 4 and Day 7. Each time the doggie goes to a place where fleas are or is in contact with animals with fleas, thoroughly spray the fur with Greenbug fro People to repel fleas so the dog will remain flea-free. Fleas should be well under control now. Greenbug for Pets is also what I use on my kitty cat. However, as a caveat, the active ingredient in Greenbug for Pets is an essential oil and there are some who say not to use any essential oils on cats. After consulting with experts, I have made the personal decision to use it on my kitty cat but there are those who do not agree with any essential oil use on cats whatsoever. Therefore, use with extreme caution on cats. – what do you think? (Back to Solutions) Fleas in carpet Greenbug for Pets, Greenbug for People and Greenbug for Indoors will all kill fleas but Greenbug for Indoors is the least expensive on a large scale. For a bad problem with fleas, spray Greenbug for Indoors in all affected areas on Day 1, Day 2, Day 4 and Day 7. After that, spray twice a week for two weeks, then once a week for two weeks, then you can stretch it to once a month and then once a quarter. Gaining control and maintaining control are very different and as Greenbug products are all natural without petroleum based toxins, they require energy up front and when the problem is gone, you can stretch time between treatments out. (Back to Solutions) Flies, Inside You need to spray the flies directly with Greenbug for People to kill them which is sometimes difficult. If you have an ongoing issue with flies, you need to research the source of the flies so that source can be removed. Once located, thoroughly spray the source area with Greenbug for People or Greenbug for Indoors. However, the best way to deal with flies is to repel them in the first place. Greenbug for Indoors used on a consistent basis will help keep flies away. For example, if you have flies coming in your back door all the time and after researching realize the garbage can right outside the door is the source, immediately spray inside the garbage can with Greenbug and shut it tightly. You can then spray around the door jamb for a few days to begin a barrier flies will avoid. In this instance, if you can’t move the garbage can, I would continue the steps of spraying inside the garbage can and along the door jamb every few days or so to build up that barrier and you can wean back on spraying as the fly problem goes away. Circumstances like this are common with flies – they flare up periodically but aren’t necessarily all the time. You can react and treat if there is a problem. (Back to Solutions) Flies, outside There is no way that the entire population of flies will be controlled outdoors but there are steps you can take to create a fly-free zone. First step is to determine the boundaries of the fly-free area. As an example, let’s say you have an outdoor patio and you want to host your child’s birthday party on the 15th of next month. You would want to get a pump sprayer or a backpack sprayer and spray the outside area with Greenbug for Outdoors starting the first of the month on Day 1, Day 3, Day 6, Day 10 and either the evening of the 14th or the morning of the 15th. It is not reasonable to expect a pest free area if you spray just the day before because Greenbug for Outdoors must build up to a barrier. Gaining control of pests and maintaining control are completely different – that is why Greenbug for Outdoors is sprayed more in the beginning and the distance between sprays gets longer. Mosquito Spray Systems are a wonderful way to create a pest free yard or area as they spray minimal amounts of Greenbug for Outdoors on a daily basis. (Back to Solutions) Fruit Flies Fruit flies live and breed on fruit so there is potential for fruit flies every time fruit is brought into the home. To avoid fruit flies, when you arrive home from the grocery store, take an empty, large paper grocery sack and spray inside the bag very lightly with Greenbug for People. Then place your newly purchased fruit inside the bag, close it up and leave the fruit inside for at least 30 minutes but no longer than a couple of hours. If that is not an option or if there are tons of fruit flies on your fruit, you can spray the fruit directly with Greenbug for People as it is FDA approved for use in and around food. However, this is not my first choice – I think the paper bag works great. (Back to Solutions) Grain Beetles These nasty little creatures love the pantry so they can infiltrate all sorts of stored dry goods. No more! Using Greenbug for Indoors on an ongoing basis in the pantry will make sure grain beetles are nowhere to be found! For an infestation, I would throw away all affected food articles as they are not salvageable. From that point forward, spray the pantry, cabinet, storage area, etc. with Greenbug for Indoors on Day 1, Day 2, Day 4 and Day 7. After that spray Greenbug for Indoors once a week for a month then stretch it out to longer periods like every other week, once a month, etc. This initial higher frequency of spraying is the foundation of a barrier to the food source for many pests. After that, just minimal maintenance is required. (Back to Solutions) Head Lice on scalp Greenbug for People is awesome! If you have ever dealt with conventional Head Lice treatment and thought that was the only option – you are in for a treat! Thoroughly saturate the hair and scalp with Greenbug for People. Put on a shower cap or bathing cap and wait 4 hours to overnight. The adult Head Lice are killed instantly and the purpose of the ‘4 hours to overnight’ is to dehydrate the nits – so you don’t have to comb them out!!! Head Lice on scalp replace last line with – Please refer to Head Lice on furniture and Head Lice on clothing/belongings directions for complete eradication of Head Lice. (Back to Solutions) Head Lice on furniture You will need Greenbug for Indoors to spray on all items that may harbor Head Lice that cannot be laundered. Lightly spray Greenbug for Indoors on Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Day 5 to give all nits the opportunity to hatch and then be destroyed. This can include car seats, large stuffed animals, pillows, etc. that can’t be put in the washing machine. (Back to Solutions) Head Lice on clothing/belongings All items that can be laundered need to be put in the washing machine on the highest heat possible and ¼ cup of Greenbug for Indoors should be added to each load. The Greenbug for Indoors will penetrate the fabrics to destroy all adults and eggs (nits) plus, once it is laundered and put back into the real world, it will now repel all Head Lice and help to stop the cycle. (Back to Solutions) Horse Flies This is a fun one because it is such a problem for horse enthusiasts and so easy to fix! Horse flies lay eggs in the flooring of horse stables. If the flooring is treated with Greenbug for Outdoors, the horse flies will not land on the flooring and therefore cannot lay eggs. I suggest buying the Greenbug for Outdoors concentrate as it is most cost effective. Using either a pump sprayer or a backpack sprayer, lightly spray the stalls to infuse the stall floors with a cedar aroma and poof! If it is not possible to spray the barn, the horses can be protected using Greenbug for Outdoors in a variety of ways. When bathing the horse, add Greenbug for Outdoors Ready to Use in with the shampoo to provide the aroma of cedar which repels the horse flies. One barn opted to lightly spray the horses with Greenbug for Outdoors Ready to Use each time they saddled up to protect the horse from horseflies while riding. Greenbug for Outdoors also works great in mosquito misting systems if the barn has one. Horses know poisons and most mosquito spray systems use toxic, synthetic chemicals that the horses do not appreciate. (Back to Solutions) Mosquitoes, for People Using Greenbug for People to repel mosquitoes will forever convince you how awesome Greenbug for People is! Not only does Greenbug work beautifully, it is completely safe! Lightly spray yourself and clothing with Greenbug for People. I prefer to spray into my hand then rub it on. Mosquitoes will hate you yet you are using a product that is safe for all humans, animals and the environment! (Back to Solutions) Mosquitoes, Outside Many times you plan outdoor events only to be miserable because of mosquitoes. No more! Greenbug for Outdoors can create a mosquito free area so the first step is determining the boundaries of what you want mosquito-free. As an example, you want to host your child’s birthday party outside on the patio on the 15th of next month. It is amazing how spraying the ground of an area consistently creates an upward boundary where mosquitoes will not travel but Greenbug for Outdoors does it! For information on Mosquito Spray Systems, go back to Solutions Page and see the listing titled Mosquito Misting Systems at the bottom of the page. (Back to Solutions) Moths, in clothing If the moths are minimal or you want to avoid moths, a light spraying of Greenbug for Indoors or Greenbug for People in the drawers where clothing kept is adequate. You can spray the clothes directly with Greenbug for People. If you store clothes, spray them lightly and spray the inside of the container they are packed in with Greenbug for People or Greenbug for Indoors. It is good to give a light spray of Greenbug for Indoors once every other month or so in dressers, closets, etc. I also spray the inside of my suitcases, in the coat closet, within umbrellas, etc. to make sure all entry points of moths are taken care of. If you have a bigger problem, the best thing to do is put all affected clothes in a large garbage bag, spray Greenbug for People lightly on the clothes and in the inside of the bag, then seal it up tightly (no air coming in or out) for 2-3 days. Greenbug for People is used because it will penetrate the clothes and kill adults as well as eggs. Then spray the furniture a/o closets with either Greenbug for People or Greenbug for Indoors where clothes have been stored on Day 1, Day 3 and then Day 7. This makes sure all moth stages of life are killed. (Back to Solutions) Moths, infestation This will require Greenbug for People and a fogger to thoroughly penetrate all hiding spaces. In order to successfully treat the whole house for moths, you need a fogger and Greenbug for People. The severity of the moth infestation will dictate how thoroughly to treat the home. Do not return for at least four hours so the fog can settle and kill all moths and their eggs. After four hours or longer has passed, return to the home, put the filter back in, open the windows and crank the HVAC to dissipate the fog. After about 10 minutes, all is clear inside and there are no more moths. (Back to Solutions) No-see-ems Using Greenbug for People creates a barrier these pests will not cross. Spray yourself, your clothing and your hair with Greenbug for People. I prefer to spray it into my hand and then rub on to make sure all areas are covered. The no-see-ems will still hover, but they will not land. These pests are outside when it is most pleasant for humans to be outside too. They are drawn to your carbon dioxide when you breathe and tend to group together in clusters. These are one of the hardest species to repel so don’t be surprised if it takes multiple applications. However, we can all rejoice because nothing else works on black flies! My daughter played Spring Soccer and these pests were terrible! It was perfect weather, the soccer field is their breeding ground, and the girls were breathing hard which really drew the no-see-ems. We chose to treat the girls each time they came off the field because they were sweating and losing some of Greenbug’s important aroma. Those of us in the stands didn’t require reapplication. Greenbug for People takes care of no-see-ems like nothing else! (Back to Solutions) Roaches Roaches are one of the hardest creatures to control due to their uncanny ability to adapt as well as their thick exoskeleton. Keep in mind that gaining control of roaches(an infestation) is very different than maintaining a pest free environment. The very best way to deal with roaches is to create a repellency barrier that they do not cross. This is achieved with ongoing maintenance using Greenbug for Indoors or Greenbug for Outdoors. If there is an infestation, spraying roaches directly with Greenbug for Indoors as well as throughout the structure begins the process of killing and repelling. It is important to be thorough and consistent so spray the structure inside and outside on Day 1, Day 2 and Day 4. This means inside where all walls and flooring intersect, plus the bottoms of all doors, cabinets, etc. Outside represents the entire foundation and as far under the home into the crawl space that you can manage. On Day 7, spray the outside only. If the infestation remains, repeat the first week schedule. Once it is under control, spray the outside once a week for three weeks then once every other week for 4 weeks then stretch it out to once a month for a while, then quarterly. (Back to Solutions) Sand Fleas Using Greenbug for People creates a barrier these pests will not cross. Spray yourself, your clothing and your hair with Greenbug for People. I prefer to spray it into my hand and then rub on to make sure all areas are covered. The sand fleas will still hover, but they will not land. These pests are outside when it is most pleasant for humans to be outside too. They are drawn to your carbon dioxide when you breathe and tend to group together in clusters. These are one of the hardest species to repel so don’t be surprised if it takes multiple applications but also rejoice because nothing else works on sand gnats! My daughter played Spring Soccer and these pests were terrible. It was perfect weather, the soccer field is their breeding ground, and the girls were breathing hard which really drew the sand gnats. We chose to treat the girls each time they came off the field because they were sweating and losing some of Greenbug’s important aroma. Those of us in the stands didn’t require reapplication. (Back to Solutions) Sand Gnats Using Greenbug for People creates a barrier these pests will not cross. Spray yourself, your clothing and your hair with Greenbug for People. These pests are outside when it is most pleasant for humans to be outside too. They are drawn to your carbon dioxide when you breathe and tend to group together in clusters. We chose to treat the girls each time they came off the field because they were sweating and losing some of Greenbug’s important aroma. Those of us in the stands didn’t require reapplication. (Back to Solutions) Silverfish These things are amazing as they have adapted so well over the years, they haven’t changed since the time of the dinosaurs. But they really irritate me. Greenbug for People zaps them as does Greenbug for Indoors. If you have an infestation, I would use Greenbug for Indoors and gain control by spraying all affected areas on Day 1, Day 2, Day 4 and Day 7. After that, twice a week, then once a week and this issue should be resolved. If for some reason there is a terrible infestation – like a warehouse full of old paperwork, it may take two weeks of the schedule listed above. (Back to Solutions) Stink Bugs I don’t live in a world of stink bugs but I understand they drove a lot of people crazy in 2010. One man in Delaware called us in desperation as he had gone online and bought several products that did nothing – and he was being engulfed in stink bugs! Ta da! Greenbug to the rescue! They were coming down his chimney and living in his fireplace – he estimated about 300 and of course, they stunk. He sprayed a fair amount of Greenbug for Indoors into the fireplace area and closed the fireplace doors. He said within minutes all were dead except two that had probably been hidden underneath others and not gotten the aroma quite strongly enough. So, he sprayed the remaining two directly and boom – gone! He actually called our office immediately he was so thrilled! For stink bugs, it is best to use Greenbug for Indoors or Outdoors all around the area where the stink bugs enter the house – both inside and outside. This creates a barrier of aroma they will avoid at all costs. In this example, had this gentleman had Greenbug for Indoors and begun spraying inside the fireplace when he first noticed the stink bugs, those already there would have died and no additional stink bugs would come in. Gaining control (dealing with an infestation) and maintaining control (preventing a problem) are completely different and the moral of the story is to be diligent and head off problems before they become big. (Back to Solutions) Termites If you spray your wood surfaces with Greenbug for Outdoors on a consistent basis, you will not have termites. Period. There are states that have strict requirements about termites - that you must have a professional exterminator treat your home in order to be considered protected. But if you are able to do it yourself, you can save a tremendous amount of money and use a safe product. Greenbug has the active ingredient of cedar which is deadly to termites. That is exactly why people use cedar siding on buildings - so they won’t get termites. If you penetrate into whatever wood a home is built of with cedar aroma, the termites will not come near. Spray Greenbug for Indoors along all wooden surfaces once a week for 6 weeks. After that, spray these areas once a month. If you live in an area with tons of termites, spray more often. Keep in mind that Greenbug for Outdoors only protects areas sprayed so even if you spray the outside foundation but don’t treat under the house, termites can tunnel under the foundation edge to where they are underneath the house. Then they build these amazing vertical stacks that reach up to the sub joists and they start their silent damage. To avoid this, when you treat your house, be sure to open any air vents underneath the house and spray a fair amount of Greenbug into the crawl space from every entry point you can find. (Back to Solutions) Ticks on animals Spraying my dog the first time for a tick is when I knew Greenbug for Pets was awesome! Like many people, I had been told by my vet to use the spot drop treatments – which I now know are very toxic and will shorten a pet’s life by at least 25%. We used the super duper spot drop on a Thursday and the following Tuesday, our German Shepherd / Collie mix had a huge engorged tick. Hmmm… So we sprayed it and Bam – it died instantly and we could actually see it shrivel. If a pet has a tick, spray it directly and it will die right away. However, the best option is to repel ticks to begin with so before going into a tick prone area, lightly spray your pet with Greenbug for Pets and work it into the fur to create a smell barrier the ticks will not cross. (Back to Solutions) Ticks on People Before going outside, spray yourself with Greenbug for People and the ticks will avoid you. If you are out for a long time or if you are doing strenuous activity, a reapplication may be a good idea as perspiration minimizes the aroma. But you can be sure you repel these awful pests and haven’t absorbed any neuro-toxins that may affect you later on. If you have a tick on you, spray it directly with Greenbug for People and it will be die immediately. (Back to Solutions) Whiteflies These irritating little guys are very hard to get rid of unless you use Greenbug for Outdoors. You can spray Greenbug for Outdoors from a spray bottle, from a pump or backpack sprayer, through a fertigation system or hose end sprayer to saturate infested plants and then soak the soil at the base of the plant. Repeat the process every 3 or 4 days to take care of any hatchlings that weren’t hit. Even if you soak the plant, expect several treatments because the eggs are hard to eradicate. I had a bad whitefly population on some plants last year and I treated one day then came back and treated 3 days later for about 1/8 the pest population. I then came back 3 days later and maybe saw one flying around one whitefly. I came back three days later and problem solved! (Back to Solutions) General Maintenance, Indoors The assumption here is that there is no infestation of a particular pest – this is the desire is to keep pests under control using ongoing maintenance. Greenbug for Indoors is the ticket. You should use a pump sprayer or backpack sprayer. On the initial treatment, spray every intersection of wall and floor in the house - interior walls, exterior walls, along the bottoms of doors, etc. Be extra careful at exterior doors – open them up and spray all around the door inside and outside because pests like to scurry in when you open the doors and this will keep them away. Greenbug for Indoors sprays out white but will dry clear, will not stain, and does not leave a residue. Then go outside your home if possible, and spray the exterior foundation walls with Greenbug for Indoors. You are creating a barrier that pest will not cross. Repeat this process one week later. You will probably see some dead pests all of a sudden so do not be surprised. After two weeks, spray the inside and outside again. From that point on, a monthly spray (or possibly longer periods apart) will be sufficient. You can do inside only, outside only or both. If you live somewhere without access to exterior walls like in an apartment, you would do all your spraying in the inside only. In the event some pests start to show up, repeat this process (or at least spray more often), until you are back in control. (Back to Solutions) General Maintenance, Outdoors, Garden If you have a vegetable garden, rest assured that Greenbug for Outdoors is completely safe for use throughout the growing process - even on the day you harvest. If you live in a buggy area, a maintenance schedule of every 10 days to 2 weeks will keep your garden free of pests. Otherwise, spray as needed. Spray all plants on all surfaces either early morning or late afternoon to keep the sun from magnifying rays in the droplets and burning spots on the plants. (Back to Solutions) General Maintenance, Outdoors You can have a spray schedule of Greenbug for Outdoors all along the foundation of your home to keep pests away. Greenbug for Outdoors can be used in a hose-end sprayer (you must use Greenbug for Outdoors Concentrate for this) to spray lawns every 2 – 3 weeks in the growing season to keep away grubs, crickets, and other turf pests. One customer had stink bugs on the side of his house and used a hose-end sprayer to get rid of them. The rate of usage in a hose end sprayer depends on the water flow and pressure. I would begin by diluting ¼ cup Greenbug for Outdoors Concentrate with ¼ cup water, pouring into the hose end sprayer and see how strong the aroma of output is. If it is really strong, you can dilute with more water, say ¼ cup Greenbug for Outdoors Concentrate to ½ cup water and keep diluting until you just barely smell the aroma as it comes out of the sprayer. (Back to Solutions) Mosquito Misting Systems Now I want to get on the mountaintop and shout about this! Greenbug for Outdoors Concentrate used in a mosquito misting system works better and is less expensive than what is being used on the market today – and you can put it in yourself!!! Greenbug for Outdoors is better for several reasons – it works every time. Because it is so safe, it can be sprayed whenever, not just at wee hours of the morning when pests aren’t out anyway. If the kids want to go outside and play – you can actually run the system right before they go out with no worries. Greenbug for Outdoors is better because it is selective. It only kills and repels the bad guys – mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, chiggers, roaches, etc. yet is completely harmless to butterflies, lady bugs, honey bees and all beneficial creatures. Greenbug for Outdoors is better because it is EPA exempt which means it needs no registration and no license to apply it which means homeowners can refill the systems themselves! So Greenbug for Outdoors works better, is safer and costs less – what are you waiting for?! Depending on the mosquito coverage needed, use between 1 quart and ½ gallon of Greenbug for Outdoors Concentrate per 55 gallon drum. (Back to Solutions) Barns Greenbug products can be used in a variety of ways to make life more pleasant for horses and those who love them. For a mosquito spray system, Greenbug for Outdoors works better than conventional pesticide products, is less expensive, and because it is EPA exempt it can be filled by an employee of the barn – you do not need to hire a professional pest control operator to do it. Horseflies, mosquitoes, gnats, etc. all like to lay eggs in the bedding of the stalls. Using a back pack or pump sprayer, a light application of Greenbug for Outdoors repels all these pests from landing in the bedding, therefore the population plummets. Using Greenbug for Outdoors during the bathing and tack process gives the horses an extra layer of repellency against pests for their comfort and safety. Greenbug for People can be used by riders to keep them pest free so they can enjoy the ride and their time with the horses. Contact us for more information!
