Spring Break? How to Avoid Bed Bugs!

Spring Break is a rite of passage!  Fun destinations, lots of party time, and fabulous memories.  UNLESS, you get bed bugs on the trip.  Now your Spring Break vacation is a nightmare you never want to live through again! Learn how to prevent a bed bug infestation below.

A few quick pointers about bed bugs - 

 - The best place to get bed bugs is from the luggage compartments of public transportation.  That means airlines, trams, taxis, shuttles, etc.  Anytime your luggage is butted up against other people's luggage, it is the perfect opportunity for bed bugs to crawl onto a new victim's belongings.

 - One pregnant bed bug entering you home could become thousands in as little as a month.  They expand their population exponentially.  Therefore, you must learn how to avoid/prevent bed bugs in advance.

 - The ickiest thing - not everyone reacts to bed bugs so you could have them and not even know it!

 - Have no fear - Greenbug is here!  Greenbug controls bed bugs AND bed bug eggs!

For Spring Break travel, here are the steps you take to avoid bed bugs:

• Before you leave your home, spray your luggage with Greenbug for People/Pets.  Now bed bugs will not attach to your luggage.
• Bring a personal Greenbug for People/Pets bottle with you on the trip.  This is intentionally small enough to pass through airport security.  
• At your destination, peel back the sheets/linens on the edges of the bed to the mattress and look for tiny dark streaks which are signs of bed bugs. (If you see actual bed bugs or these tiny streaks, call the Manager!) As you inspect, spray all layers with a light coating of Greenbug for People/Pets.  This creates a barrier they will not cross to get to you while you sleep.
  
• Re-apply a light coat of Greenbug for People/Pets on your luggage to make sure if there are bed bugs in the hotel room, they aren't attaching to your stuff!
• If you must use the dresser drawers, be sure to spray each drawer with Greenbug for People/Pets prior to placing your items in the drawers.
• While at your destination, be sure to use Greenbug for People/Pets on yourself to control mosquitoes, no-see-ems, and other biting bugs wherever you are!
• When it is time to depart, spray your luggage with Greenbug for People/Pets.  This ensures all the bed bugs who might attach to your luggage are undeniably repulsed by your luggage and will go elsewhere.
• Once you return home, if you have reservations about your success at avoiding bed bugs, you can take your luggage and all of the contents and place them in a large, black, heavy-duty construction garbage bag.  Spray inside the bag liberally with Greenbug for People/Pets and seal the bag tightly for three days.  In the absolutely rare chance that you have any bed bugs at this point, they will NOT survive the three days in the Greenbug death trap.
