Pest Control Market is HUGE, and Profitable at Your Expense

The Pest Control industry in the United States is big.  And getting bigger every year.

That is because Americans HATE BUGS!

But that hate comes at a cost - a health cost of toxic, chemical pesticides in our homes, businesses, schools, etc.

In 2024, the structural pest control industry (which means pest control services on structures like homes, offices, hospitals, malls, schools, etc.), was determined to be more than $13.4 billion.  Billion.  That is an increase of $762 million over the previous year.

That represents a growth greater than 2.7 times the 2025 U.S. Real GDP. Insane, right?

More than 13 million residential customers received a pest control service in 2025.  That represents the Pest Control Professionals that come to your home and apply odorless, colorless, tasteless poisons to your residence.  You are paying for harsh, synthetic chemicals and you are paying the labor for people to spray them.  And having these services accounts for 85.4% of revenue for pest control companies.

Pest control services are typically annual contracts whereby exterminators arrive every 3 months (4 times/year) to spray chemical pesticides inside and outside of your home.  These chemicals are designed to last just 3 months - so that you have them return and pay again.  But over time, these toxic, synthetic chemical cocktails have become less effective on controlling bugs.  (They maintain toxicity against humans and animals, but losing effectiveness on the bugs...hmmm...).  If they apply these chemicals and the customer states there are still bugs, the contract requires the exterminators return and re-apply again.  That is referred to as a callback.  And there can be as many callbacks as you like!

Pest control companies were polled to see what pests were most responsible for callbacks and they said that ants (51.6%) and roaches (42.6%) were the top pests responsible for callbacks.  So, the un-killed ants and roaches combined for 94.2% of all callbacks meaning these customers had at least twice the normal amounts of toxic, synthetic chemicals applied.
